Lyrics

It’s another day’s work
With the road ahead
They say I can sleep
After I’m dead.
But that’s ok
It won’t bring me down
Cuz I get to drive
From town to town
That brings me
Down the open road
Seeing what can be seen
Down the open road
Going where I’ve never been
Down the open road
New adventures to be found
On this open road
I’m American and proud.
From coast to coast
And south to north
My wheels keep turning
Driving me forth.
Destination doesn’t matter
It’s the path I take
Across this great land
It’s the friendships that I make
That I find
Down the open road
Seeing what can be seen
Down the open road
Going where I’ve never been
Down the open road
New adventures to be found
On this open road
I’m American and proud.
When you travel you can see
The beauty all around us
There’s no reason to hate each other
All of that’s completely groundless
So many things these days
Try to tear us all apart
But good people are all the same
When we listen to our heart
If we realize what we have and
Help our neighbors who are in need
We will run out all of the lies
Of those who rule us with their greed.
We have so much we can do
So much that we all share
It’s time to remind the world that America
Is filled with people who truly care!
No longer will be let them divide us
To keep us distracted and poor
It’s time to come back together
And be the UNITED states once more!
Let’s go now!
Down the open road
Seeing what can be seen
Down the open road
Going where we’ve never been
Down the open road
New truths to be found
On this open road
We’re American and we’re proud.
That’s right we can find pride again.
On the American road!

Behind the Music

Composer’s Thoughts

Growing up in the south, as well as having owned a small freight company and done cross-country drives routinely have given me a great perspective on this massive nation, called the United States. Despite what we are fed on television, we are all more similar than we are separate. Deep down we all want the same things. Just that some of us have been taught to fight the other side and vice versa. Yet these sides are manufactured distractions. That’s the heart of the message here. Travel is truly the enemy of ignorance. Experience is the enemy of hatred. We cannot remain fractured.

Clint’s Thoughts

I’ve grown up driving. Got my license at 16 and haven’t stopped traveling since. There’s a reason so many people tell others to “touch grass” and it shouldn’t be seen as an insult. This land is a great one. It’s one we should be proud of. And the more you see of it, the better. Because we need to be united once more.
