No Crumbs Left

The Gen Z/Alpha terms “no crumbs left” and “she ate” are at the heart of this reggae love song with a modern twist. Kyan explores a bit of island love with this upbeat track that demonstrates just how versatile he is as an artist.

Lyrics

I just had my mind blown
When I encountered a girl
She is something unknown
Something new in my world
A woman completely unique
Who came at the right time
Cuz my life had been bleak
Now I wanna make her mine
Now I have to figure out
What steps I should take
There can be no doubt
She takes the whole cake
And ya know…
She’s way outta my league
So flawless in every way
Next to her, I’m just a pig
What more can I say
Except that she’s so great
At everything, she is deft
Whatever she does, she ate,
Oh no… no crumbs were left!
Oh no… cuz I’m just a bum
And she left no crumb!
I gotta craft a careful plan
For me to make my approach
I need to be a better man
Someone beyond reproach
That’s when I bumped into her
Literally at the coffee shop
It was all just one big blur
As I watched our drinks drop
No time left to figure out
What steps I should take
There can be no doubt
She takes the whole cake
Because…
She’s way outta my league
So flawless in every way
Next to her, I’m just a pig
What more can I say
Except that she’s so great
At everything, she is deft
Whatever she does, she ate,
Oh no… no crumbs were left!
Oh no… cuz I’m just a bum
And she left no crumb!
Now I’m in total shock
Cuz all she did was laugh
Time stopped on the clock
I apologized on my behalf
Then she started to talk
As I got us each a new drink
So opportunities do knock
No time left to overthink
Cuz then she asked me out
Man, what a lucky break
There can be no doubt
She took the whole cake
I can’t believe…
She’s way outta my league
So flawless in every way
To her I am not a pig
What more can I say
Except that she’s so great
At everything, she is deft
Whatever she does, she ate,
Oh no… no crumbs were left!
I guess I’m not just a bum
And she left no crumb!
Yeah I’m one lucky bum
Cuz my girl
Oh she left no crumb!

Behind the Music

Composer’s Thoughts

This was just pure fun to do. I’m a huge fan of reggae and wasn’t certain if I could pull it off. Knowing Kyan’s heritage, I asked if he would be down to give it a try and he jumped on board. The whistles were actually the most difficult part.

Kyan’s Thoughts

I was more than a little intimidated when I was asked if I would try my hand at doing an island reggae song. I never had, but I was game to give it a try. I did not want to do any accent that would ring untrue or be disrespectful, however, so hopefully people can just enjoy the style and appreciate that even though I’m the son of an island Bashment Gyal, I did not want to pretend to be something I’m not. I am proud of my heritage though, so let’s hope you love it as much as I do.
