Behind the Music
Composer’s Thoughts
As will become evident… many of us at Nostalgic Tones collective are geeks. We love all things pop and pop culture. So of course, when I wanted to just have a nice little button on the end of our first album, this just made perfect sense. What was especially fun is using aspects of the known comic book heroes in ways you don’t typically hear them being ascribed. For instance, Superman is usually a metaphor for power or strength, but instead I chose bravery. The body of Batman, when usually it’s his fighting skills. The fighting skills of Iron Man… someone usually associated with intellect. The metaphors are still correct, but just something off center from normal. This keeps it unique and playful.
Jessica’s Thoughts
I am not a huge comic book reader but I do love the movies. So I found this to still be so fun. It’s a vibe for sure. It did make me pick up more than a few comics since then, and I have fallen in love with them, and the geeks who read them.
