Composer’s Thoughts
So this song is from the perspective of newly-single older crowd who didn’t grow up in the swipe right/left crowd. Dating for Millennials and Gen X used to be vastly different. Today’s world of apps are filled with traps, scams, catfishing, and so much more. We went from our youth where the dating pool was vast to a ton of fakes and the few “leftovers” or “jaded” options. Thus the sad but true take on modern dating.
Zayn’s Thoughts
I think this was a lot of fun. I’m young enough that this environment is normal for me, but I can imagine how jarring it must be for others rejoining the dating world nowadays.
Jessica’s Thoughts
I’m in my twenties, despite what the lyrics say, but I can empathize with the message of the song. I wish things were as simple as they used to be. Now even going to the bar, I have to carry drink covers. The world is so dangerous for single women, and men too. The dating pool does suck.
